Elsa’s Senior Photo Session in Colorado Springs

I always feel very honored when people drive from out of town to take senior photos with me, and Elsa’s session was no exception – she and her mom drove from Fort Collins to take pictures in Colorado Springs! While Fort Collins can also be a great location for photos, it just doesn’t have the same amount of jaw dropping locations that you will find in the Springs.  Both Fort Collins and Colorado Springs have beautiful parks, a colorful downtown area full of murals to use as backdrops, and some water areas, but I have found that many places in Fort Collins, including Horsetooth Reservoir and Lory State Park, require a photography permit. You will also have to drive futher from town to get the better mountain views.

Mountains Backdrops in Colorado Springs

It’s no secret that Colorado Springs has some beautiful mountain backdrops for senior photos, but a good photographer will know where to go (and give you multiple options that fit what you are looking for), how to avoid the crowds (or even edit them out), and know what time of day will look best at that particular spot. They can also prepare you for knowing what to expect – will there be insects? Snakes? Where should you park? How long will the walk be? What kind of shoes should you wear? Working with Amare Clara Photography is like having a photographer and travel guide all in one. I will make sure you know what to expect for wherever we go!

Photographer that will Go to More than One Location

With Elsa, we decided to go to multiple locations – a beautiful open field with a mountain backdrop, the downtown area, and a unique bridge that combined urban and nature beautifully as the mountains showed behind it. I always allow time for multiple locations for my senior photoshoots (though the locations must be within a reasonable distance to one another. Thankfully, Colorado Springs has a LOT of variety of backdrops to offer within a short distance from one another).

Senior Photoshoot With Multiple Outfit Changes

I’ll never understand why there are photographers who charge extra money if you want the option to change outfits. During your senior photoshoot with Amare Clara Photography, you can have as many outfits you want, so long as there is time to change and somewhere to change. Elsa opted for 2 different outfits – a beautiful floral dress that fit in perfectly with the mountain scenery, and a black romper that stood out in the urban locations. I do my best to help you make decisions on what to wear if needed. Some people that contact me know exactly what they want to wear, but others may need to brainstorm ideas – after all, it’s not everyday your soon to be senior needs to plan out a multi-outfit wardrobe for a photoshoot. We will consider things like weather, location, comfort, what you want to be able to use the photos for, and picking out outfits that reflect who the senior is at this time of their lives.

How Many Pictures Do you Receive for Senior Photos?

If you are wondering in general how many photos you will receive for a senior photo session, there isn’t a definite answer – every photographer is different! Some photographers may say you get “unlimited number of photos” which I can almost guarantee you means that the photographer spends a very short amount of time on each photo, or uses AI to batch-edit. The other extreme of this are photographers that will charge you for your session, with no photos included and then will upsell you on as many photos as they can, leaving you either with an emptier wallet than you expected, or not as many photos as you were hoping for.

With all my senior session, I am very upfront with what I provide. I let Elsa’s mother know when she contacted me that my senior sessions are a set price – I do not charge separately for the session, outfit changes, location changes or printing rights – with a set amount of photos included (you can click HERE to see what is currently included in my senior session package). While you do have the option to purchase more photos from the gallery, you will know going in to your session what you will receive.

Picking Your Photos

After Elsa’s senior session, I went through the photos I took and chose all the best/clear shots and sent them in a gallery for her and her mother to make their selections. They were able to choose their favorites, and then I got to work on editing. I pay close attention in my editing process, making sure to get rid of distractions, fly aways that look out of place, blemishes, you name it. I probably spend too long on each photo, but I love the process, and I want to make sure that each photo is one that you will be excited to have and to share.
