• Danielle’s Senior Photo Session

This session is one of my favorite senior photo sessions that I have done. With two different days of shooting, unlimited outfit changes, and being a gorgeous model, Danielle had a lot of beautiful images for graduation announcements, the yearbook, and of course, instagram 🙂 I was particularly excited for this session, and feeling rather old, because I used to babysit Danielle and her older sister. In fact, Danielle is the first baby I can ever remember holding! I used to create elaborate backdrops and props for impromptu photoshoots while I babysat them, that I would then gift their mom for her birthdays and Christmases. I was so honored to…

Resizing Your Senior Yearbook Picture to 300 DPI

Whether you are a photographer who takes senior photos or a parent of a high school senior frantically searching Google for “How to change a photo to 300 DPI”, I’ve got you covered. In this blog I am going to explain what DPI means and how to easily change your senior photo to 300 DPI in Photoshop, Lightroom, and in Mac Preview, in order to have it ready to submit to the yearbook. What does DPI mean? High schools now will send out a yearbook photo requirement telling parents that they need to submit a photo of their senior with “300 DPI” but what does that mean? DPI stands for…

  • Colorado Springs Labor Day Lift Off 2021

September 4th, 5th, and 6th marked the 45th annual Labor Day Lift Off event in Colorado Springs. This fun experience is one of my own family’s favorite traditions. I grew up going to the balloon festival at Chatfield State Park in Littleton, CO, which sadly had its last year in 2008, so I was ecstatic to be able to start the tradition of a balloon festival once again when I moved to the Springs. We decided this year to set our alarm for 5am (crazy, I know) so as to get a good parking spot near Memorial Park, where the balloons blow up and take off from. In true fashion…

  • Beautiful Locations for Photos in Colorado Springs

Colorado Springs is an absolutely beautiful place to have Senior, Engagement, and Family Photos taken. I’ll often see people inquiring in Facebook groups, as to what the “best places for a photo shoot in Colorado Springs” are.  Some of the frequent responses I’ve seen include: Fox Run Park, Palmer Park, Red Rocks Open Space, Garden of the Gods, the Mesa Overlook, and Cheyenne Mountain State Park, to name a few. Photography Permits in Colorado Springs? One of the things I love about being a photographer in Colorado Springs, is that there are not currently many places that require a photography permit (this is a huge challenge I face when I…

  • Valentine’s Day Photoshoot for Kids

It’s almost Valentine’s Day! If you are like me, you love taking pictures of your kids to create fun and lasting memories. With how busy life is with kids, a quick and simple photoshoot idea is what works best, and as a Colorado photographer having to constantly deal with the indecisive weather, an indoor session is even better. The first thing every Valentine’s Day picture needs: HEARTS. I carefully made my way to the back of our cluttered storage/laundry/overflow/craft room to hunt for some long-forgotten construction paper. Next, I did something I realize I shouldn’t have ever let my toddler witness, and I carefully and lightly traced the outline of…
