Andrea & Ryan’s Maternity Photos in Colorado Springs

The recent and seemingly unending wind has been a nightmare for Colorado Springs photographers – except for those rare moments when it works in their favor, giving one’s clients that supermodel-hair effect.  Thankfully for me, the wind decided it needed a break during Andrea and Ryan’s maternity session. We needed that win, because showing up to Monument Valley Park, a popular place for portrait photography in Colorado Springs, we were disappointed to note that the lack of rain had made for a half-filled, smelly pond, and flower gardens that were not living up to their typical glory.  Baby geese waddled nearby as we traipsed over the grass, trying not to step in anything we would be sure to smell later. I tried to reassure the parents-to-be as they viewed the un-ideal location that I knew we could still get great shots, and photoshop would come in handy for the debris on the ground. AND. IT. DID!

I always try my best to help my clients feel comfortable and have a great time during a photoshoot, but taking photos of friends is extra special and fun. While I didn’t use any of my jokes I’ve accumulated for my senior sessions, there may have been one or two Twilight references when suggesting posing options by the tree 🙂

Colorado Springs in the Spring is such a beautiful place for Maternity Photos. Flowering trees, amazing parks to choose between, and let’s not forget Pikes Peak or Cheyenne Mountain, should you choose to opt for a mountain backdrop! I love that there are so many options, and unlike cities such as Fort Collins, there are not many places that require a photography permit in order to use the location.

If you are looking for bright, beautiful images to capture an important time in your life, such as Maternity, Senior, or Engagement photos, or would like to talk about creating something out of the ordinary and magical, I’d love to chat with you!

Andrea, I, and some of our other friends have an inside-joke about sharks, so it was very necessary to include a quick edit of a shark in one of her pictures:
